数ある彫金技法の中でも、毛筆の様にトメ・ハネを表現する「片切彫り」を得意とする。装飾技法の色絵象嵌にも長け、銅、銅合金、銀、銀合金など色の違う金属素材を母材に嵌め込み文様を表現する、数少ない象嵌師でもある。

2013年 第62回神宮式年遷宮（伊勢神宮）の際に御太刀の復元に携わる。

Among the many techniques of "chokin (metal chasing)," Yamamoto Natsuaki is especially skilled in "katakiribori (uneven V-shaped engraving)," a technique that engraves lines in imitation of brush strokes. Also excelling in the colored-metal inlay decoration techniques, Yamamoto is one of the few metal inlay artists who render patterns by inlaying different colored metals, including copper, copper alloy, silver, and silver alloy, into the base metal.
